Primates de Grecia ( Fundema PP program) receives recognition from the National Forestry Office for its contribution to the 2026 Tree-Planting Campaign

June 1, 2026, Grecia, Costa Rica — As part of the National Tree Day celebrations, Primates de Grecia, a key program and initiative of the Ecological Foundation (Fundema), joined forces with Siembratón 2026, a national movement dedicated to reforestation, the restoration of vital ecosystems, and active community participation.

As a result of this outstanding work in the field, the National Forestry Office (ONF) officially recognized Primates de Grecia for its valuable contribution toward reaching the historic milestone of 2,820,577 trees planted nationwide during this year’s event.

A milestone in the restoration of our habitats

For Fundema, protecting biodiversity also means restoring the land where these species live. Primates de Grecia’s participation in the Siembratón reaffirms our foundation’s commitment to restoring forest cover, an essential step toward:

• Protecting wildlife habitats: Ensuring food sources, shelter, and safe movement corridors for primates and other species in the region.

• Strengthening ecological connectivity: Preventing the fragmentation of local forests.

• Safeguarding the environment: Protecting water sources, reducing soil erosion, and increasing the resilience of our ecosystems in the face of climate change.
